2006-2007 Scholarship Winner
Eric Vinande
Congratulations to Eric Vinande,
winner of the 2006-2007 RMSION Scholarship competition. Eric is graduate
student in the Aerospace Engineering Sciences Ph.D. program at the University of
Colorado, Boulder. He has already had significant exposure to the art and
science of navigation through his research work in the field of bistatic GPS
validation of digital elevation profiles, GPS tracking in heavily attenuated
signal conditions, effects of cross-polarization antennas used with a large
number of correlators for multipath mitigation, and sensor integration.

2004-2005
Scholarship Winner
Congratulations to Keric Hill, winner of the 2004-2005 RMS
ION Scholarship competition. Keric is a third year graduate student in the
Aerospace Engineering Sciences Ph.D. program at the University of Colorado,
Boulder. He has already had significant exposure to the art and science of
navigation through his work comparing the accuracy of Orbit Determination
Toolkit software orbit solutions to the very precise scientific orbits of
several satellites using GPS pseudorange data. He is also exploring
methods for relative and absolute navigation of satellite constellations using
the unique characteristics in the vicinity of the Earth-Moon and Earth-Sun
libration points together with satellite to satellite tracking.

2003-2004
Scholarship Winner
Congratulations to Stephan Esterhuizen, winner of the
2003-2004 RMS ION Scholarship competition. Stephan
is a senior in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of
Colorado, Boulder. He has already
had some significant exposure to the art and science of navigation through his
work in designing an avionics system for a small, unmanned aerial vehicle and in
developing open source code for a GPS software receiver.
Once complete, this generic software receiver will be used to implement
various types of carrier/code tracking loops, different integration times on the
signal, etc.
The RMS section looks forward to interacting with Stephan
as he fulfills his apprenticeship activities throughout the school year.
The committee received several outstanding applications
from students across the Rocky Mountain region.
We encourage all applicants to apply again next year.
