Annual Dinner Meeting – 2006

Where: Mackenzie's Chophouse
128 S Tejon St
Colorado Springs , CO 80903

Meeting Recap:

The 2006 annual RMS-ION meeting was a resounding success and we had a great time this year at MacKenzie’s Chophouse.  Officer elections were conducted and the members in attendance voted to install Clint Matthews as the new Vice Chair.  Clint is new to Colorado Springs and is enthusiastic about future RMS-ION activities. See the Officers page for contact information  The membership also voted an additional year’s tenure for Brian Carroll as Chair, Chris Kucera as Secretary, and Steve Bolt as Treasurer.  We will definitely miss Ted Driver as he steps down, and thank him for his leadership with the section.

We were very fortunate to have Mr. Tom Stansell, the Western Regional Vice President, join us and provide extremely informative presentations on GPS dual-use history and the plans for new signals in GPS III.  Thanks again to Tom for taking the time to visit with us.  The presentations are available for viewing here as PDF files:

We discussed outreach activities and opened to the floor for suggestions, promising the support of the section if the membership has ideas that will benefit from our assistance.  Judging for the upcoming Pikes Peak Regional Science Fair was proposed; this year’s science fair will be held on March 11, 2006 at the Phil Long Expo Center and a newspaper article stated that they still needed judges.  Anyone interested should navigate to www.pprsf.org to volunteer or get further information.

Thanks again to the members who were able to attend; we hope to see you next time.  If you could not join us on this occasion, we look forward to seeing you at a future meeting and, as always, welcome your inputs and suggestions for strengthening the Rocky Mountain Section.
